Hello, my dear friends and loyal “Firestorm Fanatics!”
I apologize for not posting the obligatory “Merry Christmas” post on here, but to be honest, Christmas kinda came out of nowhere for me this year. My birthday is November 25th, and I have long refused to get caught up in Christmas hoopla until after then.
Of course, I went and married a young lady who celebrates her birthday on November 27th, bumping back the official start of Christmas celebrations an extra couple days.
Anyway, enough of the patented Adam Tangent (TM), back to the point of this post.
I hope all of you out there had a fantabulous Christmas (or whatever you celebrate during the holiday season). May you all have ate, drank, and been merry.
That said, I wish you all a happy and prosperous New Year. 2007 was quite the interesting year on a number of fronts, and on a personal note, I have a lot of promise for many long-term things coming to fruition in 2008.
On a sadder note, I was shocked to hear of the untimely (yeah, like it’s ever actually “timely”) passing of one Greg Gillies, aka Mr. Doby Gillis.
I can’t claim to have been close to Mr. Gillis, but I first met him as a teenager, and continued to have a professional relationship within the wrestling world until the early 2000’s. He was always a very nice, cordial guy, a great, intense wrestler, and always willing to help impart knowledge to the younger set of wrestlers.
To say he will be missed is an understatement. I hope to share a couple of my favorite Gillis stories soon.
While we’re at it, here’s wishing a speedy recovery to Figure Four Weekly Emperor Bryan Alvarez, who recently underwent eye surgery.
Be good everyone!
